Presidents Day Camp: Return to Space
Monday, February 20
8:30 am – 3:30 pm

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of John Glenn’s “Friendship 7” flight! Learn about stars, meteors, comets, black holes and more. Build and launch a rocket, view a real moon rock, train to become an astronaut, sample soil from Mars and experience the STARLAB Planetarium. Watch the OMNIMAX movie, Hubble. $42 ($39 members). Girls Go! Science

Science is a girl thing! Join us for this day-long workshop of hands-on sessions led by women working in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Explore different careers, meet female student-scientists from local universities and engage in fun learning and group projects. Open to girls in grades 6 – 12. LEGO Workshop: Mayan Adventure 2 sessions!

1 – 4 pm (afternoon session)

Archeologists just discovered the tomb of an ancient Mayan king designed to keep out unwanted visitors! Safely navigate the ancient terrain by building and programming robots to send into the booby-trapped tomb to look for a treasure. Learn the basics of programming as you attempt to discover clues about who this Mayan King really was and what treasures he is protecting. $20 ($15 members) per session. Grades 4 – 8. NEW! Preschool Workshop: A Wee Leprechaun St. Patrick’s Day

Grab your pot of gold! This interactive workshop will engage your preschoolers (3 – 5 years old) and you in St. Patrick’s Day activities. Learn the science behind rainbows and make a take-home activity. This workshop partners both parents and their children in the exploration of leprechauns and many other scientific discoveries! $20 per parent /child unit with the purchase of Science Center general admission. Join us for an interactive workshop that will engage your preschooler (3 – 5 years old) and you in a variety of Easter-themed activities! Discover the secrets of dyes as you decorate your own egg and try your hand at fun science experiments using Peeps! $20 per parent /child unit with the purchase of Science Center general admission. LEGO Workshop: Bug Bots – 2 sessions!
Saturday, April 14
9 am – 2 pm (morning session)
1 pm – 4 pm (afternoon session)

Design, build and program a variety of different robotic bugs to compete a series of challenges. Can your honeybee locate food by using a light and touch sensor? Is your spider able to hold a pencil and draw a web (that you design) on paper? Can you get your robotic grasshopper to flap its wings and hop?
